Silk was actually born Silk was born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Ilkay is the daughter of Peter, a teacher and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna recalls her mother's work as a play director and also attending rehearsals. Silk produced a number of commercials when she was still a kid. In 1997, she received her bachelor's degree at St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas was active in at least two early theater productions that included Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk moved to Toronto for further development of her acting career in the month of November 1999, and during the following decade relocated in the following decade to Los Angeles, California. She met her soon-to-be spouse, Seth Cooperman, at an Actor's workshop held in Los Angeles, in 2007. In 2009 they were legally married in December of 2009. In Fredericton on 10 April 2011, following her change to Judaism they exchanged vows in the Jewish marriage ceremony.
